Better For Geelong Compost is produced using garden organics collected from the Geelong area.
The garden-bin material is collected and taken to a local transfer facility, where contaminants are removed before the organic material is shredded and prepared for composting. It then makes its way to the Anakie facility, where it is carefully managed through the composting process. Temperatures, moisture and gases are regularly monitored to ensure the compost is pasteurised to Australian Standards.
Once the compost reaches the desired level of maturity, it is screened and tested for weeds, water retention, plant growth and contamination.
And then comes the part we really love.
The finished compost goes back into the local community — being used on farms, parks and gardens to help improve soil quality and carbon levels.
